It is with immense gratitude and thanks that I am writing to CAYC in the wake of their speedy actions and observations on the evening of Wednesday the 12th of August 2020. My family, my son (9 years old and new to sailing), my husband and myself took our trusty old Wayfarer out for a sail on the Lough for an evening of what was meant to be a quick relaxing light sailing.

Warnings have been issued ahead of Storm Ellen which will move in from the Atlantic on Wednesday night.The highest level weather warning, Status Red, has been issued for County Cork by Irish weather service, Met Éireann.A yellow warning has also been issued for Northern Ireland by the Met Office.The storm, which contains remnants of Tropical Storm Kyle, will move into the west coast of Ireland, bringing severe gales.

Great CAYC Bake-off. Adults - your brief is to make an 8 inch Victoria sponge which you can decorate in any way you wish. You should be ready at 7.30pm with your 'uncut' cake to show it off to everyone. Juniors - your brief is to make 6 identical muffins, any type or flavour and again decorated anyway you like. They should be ready on a plate at 7.30pm for display at
